Add a DMARC record

The extra record Gmail and Yahoo expect.

DMARC tells inboxes what to do with email that fails authentication. Gmail and Yahoo expect bulk senders to have one, and without it more of your email may land in spam.

Under each of your domains in Settings → Sending, a DMARC box shows whether a record exists. If it's missing, it shows the exact TXT record to add, usually:

  • Type: TXT
  • Name: _dmarc.yourdomain
  • Value: v=DMARC1; p=none;

p=none only monitors: it can't block any of your email, so it's a safe start. If your domain already has a stricter policy, the box tells you and reminds you to keep your other email services set up too.
