WordPress: Event pages with an Elementor form

One tick-box on the sign-up form of every event

For events shown with The Events Calendar and a sign-up form made in Elementor Pro on each event page. One setting adds a newsletter tick-box to the form on every event page - old and new events, without editing them. Registrations keep working exactly as before.

  1. Install the 404 Emails plugin: download it under Settings → Integrations → WordPress in 404 Emails, then in WordPress go to Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin, choose the file and click Activate.
  2. Open 404 Emails in the WordPress menu, click Connect to 404 Emails, sign in, choose your workspace and click Allow.
  3. Go to 404 Emails → Other forms. Under Sign-up forms on event pages, tick Add a newsletter tick-box to the sign-up form on every event page.
  4. Check the Tick-box text, choose the 404 Emails form in Add sign-ups to and click Save.
  5. Open any event: the tick-box is under the form's other tick-boxes, never ticked in advance. Sign up once with it ticked and check that the person appears in Contacts.

Only people who tick the box are subscribed. The wording they ticked is saved in 404 Emails as their consent.

Only the name and email address are sent - never the phone number, billing details or message. Nothing is sent for people who don't tick it.

Needs plugin 1.5.0 or newer and Elementor Pro.
