WordPress: The Events Calendar / Event Tickets

A newsletter tick-box on RSVPs and ticket checkout

Adds a newsletter tick-box under the email field of your event RSVP forms and ticket checkout. Works with the free Event Tickets - Event Tickets Plus isn't needed.

  1. Make sure Event Tickets is installed and active - it's a separate free plugin from The Events Calendar, which only shows events. Add an RSVP or a ticket to your events.
  2. Install the 404 Emails plugin: download it under Settings → Integrations → WordPress in 404 Emails, then in WordPress go to Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin, choose the file and click Activate.
  3. Open 404 Emails in the WordPress menu, click Connect to 404 Emails, sign in, choose your workspace and click Allow.
  4. Go to 404 Emails → Settings. Under Destination form, choose the 404 Emails form people join in Send registrations to - its double opt-in, groups and welcome emails apply.
  5. In the Event Tickets section, tick Enabled and Show checkbox, check the Marketing consent text, and click Save settings.
  6. Open an event as a visitor: the tick-box is under the email field, never ticked in advance. Register once with it ticked to check.

Only people who tick the box are subscribed. The wording they ticked is saved in 404 Emails as their consent.

Nothing is sent for people who register without ticking it, or for "not going" RSVPs. Needs plugin 1.4.2 or newer.

Already have a newsletter checkbox in Event Tickets Plus's Attendee Information? Paste its slug into Event Tickets Plus field instead.
