404 Emails

WordPress: WooCommerce checkout

A newsletter tick-box at checkout

Adds an unchecked newsletter tick-box to your WooCommerce checkout. Customers who tick it join your list when their order is paid.

  1. Install the 404 Emails plugin: download it under Settings → Integrations → WordPress in 404 Emails, then in WordPress go to Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin, choose the file and click Activate.
  2. Open 404 Emails in the WordPress menu, click Connect to 404 Emails, sign in, choose your workspace and click Allow.
  3. Go to 404 Emails → Settings, find WooCommerce and tick Enabled - send consenting WooCommerce customers to 404 Emails.
  4. Check the Marketing consent text, choose the form in Send consenting customers to, and click Save settings.
  5. Place a test order with the box ticked and check that the customer appears in Contacts.

Only people who tick the box are subscribed. The wording they ticked is saved in 404 Emails as their consent.

The tick-box needs WooCommerce's Checkout block (the default checkout in current WooCommerce). On an older shortcode checkout it doesn't appear.

Customers who don't tick it aren't sent at all.
